From WSDOT: Paving work begins in Leavenworth on US-2
A project to improve pavement conditions through the city of Leavenworth will begin Sunday night.
The project will use a mill and fill technique on US 2 between Icicle Road (milepost 99.04) and east of Riverbend Drive (milepost 100.9). Mill and fill is a process of removing the existing layer of pavement and replacing with a new layer of hot mix asphalt surface.
During construction, continuous two-way travel will be maintained and travelers should plan for lane shifts and intermittent flagger-controlled traffic with brief delays when the contractor is staging. Intersection closures will also be required during construction, with no more than two intersections within the project length closed at any one time. Work will also require the closure of sidewalks and some pedestrian crossings with detours.
The contractor will work nights 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Fridays. Sidewalk closures and detours will typically be in place during working hours only. Drivers should plan for longer than normal travel times through the area and are reminded to stay alert for pedestrians and crews.
This work is part of a series of paving projects on US 2 between Leavenworth and Peshastin and on US 97 Blewett Pass. Project work within the vicinity of Leavenworth is scheduled to wrap up the end of May. Specific intersection closures will be shared on the WSDOT real time travel map and updates on Twitter at @WSDOT_East.
While this isn’t a City project, it will have an impact on our community, so we have provided general info on our projects page, with links to official WSDOT information sources mentioned above.
