We know Monday’s delay along US 2 caught many of you in frustrating traffic—some reported waiting more than 45 minutes. That’s not the experience we want for our community or the thousands of people who travel through Leavenworth every day.
In response, WSDOT and the City coordinated quickly to get the contractor off the road during daytime hours. After seeing the impacts firsthand, construction for the Icicle Road Transmission Main project will now shift to overnight hours, starting tonight (7/1), from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
We know that’s a big change on short notice, and we appreciate your patience as we adjust in real time to balance the needs of residents, visitors, and the project timeline.
This transmission main upgrade is critical to Leavenworth’s water infrastructure. Once complete, it will help ensure long-term water reliability and capacity for residents and businesses alike—especially during peak seasons.
We’ll continue sharing updates through the City’s social media channels, project web pages, and local alerts as this work progresses. Sign up for project updates at https://cityofleavenworth.com/…/icicle-road…/.
Thank you for your continued understanding as we work to improve our infrastructure and keep Leavenworth moving this summer!
