(12/23/2024 at 1:01 PM) **Chelan County Sheriff’s Office Media Release**
Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison reports, on 12/22/24, at around 11:30pm, the grounds in Gazebo Park, (820 Front St.) in Leavenworth was vandalized by a truck.
The suspect vehicle is a 2024 silver Toyota Tundra with Texas Lic# TTR1528. The truck was videotaped by witnesses spinning donuts on the grass of the park destroying a 90’x 50’ section. The suspect driver appears to be a white male in his 20-30’s. He has not been identified yet.
Deputies are currently conducting follow-up on the suspect vehicle and speaking with witnesses.
Once the suspect is identified, there will be probable cause for their arrest for reckless driving and malicious mischief 2nd degree.

We would like to take a moment and extend our heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community after the incident that occurred this weekend that left Front Street Park unusable, unsafe, and severely damaged. Your kindness and offers to assist mean a lot to us.
Our dedicated parks team is on it and will be working hard this week to restore the park as conditions allow. We do appreciate the numerous offers to help and are committed to reopening the lawn area of the park to the public as soon as feasible
While the incident is highly visible due to the recordings available online, please note that this matter is currently under active investigation by the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.

(12/22/2024 at 10:47 AM) Due to a property damage incident last night, the lawn area of Front Street Park is CLOSED temporarily. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work to restore the usability of our downtown park.
It is anticipated that the Chamber’s Christmastown programming in the gazebo today will continue as planned (please note schedules and programming are subject to change).
