LEAVENWORTH – The Washington State Department of Transportation will close US 2 between Coles Corner and the city of Leavenworth (milepost 84 to 99) for one day on Sept. 25 to complete pre-winter maintenance.
The road closure allows WSDOT crews to expedite pre-winter maintenance in several work zones through Tumwater Canyon, including hazard tree removal, shoulder and ditch clearing, and guardrail and pavement repair.
During the closure, passenger vehicles can detour on Chumstick Highway, which is a local county road and not appropriate for freight. Freight requiring access east of Leavenworth during the closure should use I-90 Snoqualmie Pass to US 97 Blewett Pass and approach on US 2 westbound.
The closure is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 only. For the safety of the public and crews, all travelers, including bicyclists and pedestrians must stay out of the area during the closure.
Road information is posted in the WSDOT real-time travel center, for real time travel information.
