Hello City Resident and/or Property Owner,
In February of 2015 the City Council held an open house to begin the design process and to hear public comments on the Reconstruction of Pine Street. This began the conceptual design for the reconstruction of Pine Street. Over the course of the summer the City Council reviewed and discussed various street options, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and road Right of Way (ROW) issues. At the upcoming November 10th, 2015 City Council meeting, the City Council will again be discussing this conceptual design and are asking the public to share any comments they may have on this design. The meeting will begin promptly at 6:30 PM in the Leavenworth City Council Chambers located at the Leavenworth City Hall, 700 Hwy. 2, Leavenworth, WA.
Based on the comments provided at the previous open house and the work of the City Council, the conceptual design includes a 5-foot sidewalk on the south side of the street, a 10-foot multi-use trail on the north side, two 11 foot traffic lanes and an 8-foot parking section on the south side of Pine Street. The concept design also includes a 5-foot area of snow storage/drainage area on each side of the street to allow for passable sidewalk and trail use throughout the year. The 60 feet of ROW required for this design is available in most locations; where it is not, the City will need to work through those issues as the design continues to develop. The conceptual design will be used as the base for moving forward with the project engineering, identifying and addressing ROW issues, and developing the funding program for the project. A drawing of the concept design is on the back of this letter.
While there is much more work to do on the planning and engineering, this is an important step, please join us at the November 10th, 2015 Council Meeting. Besides the engineering, the City is also exploring a number of funding options to make this project a reality. Please contact me with any comments or questions regarding this project.  My number is (509) 548-5275 EXT 124.
Sincerely,
Joel Walinski, City Administrator
