The City of Leavenworth Planning Commission and City Council are in the process of creating a new Parks & Recreation Plan. The City Council recognizes that public recreation is a needed service and benefit to the people of Leavenworth and surrounding populations. This plan will articulate the needs, level of service, and resources required to facilitate recreation opportunities and administer parks and recreation programs. The City’s “kick-off” began in August with the Planning Commission, and asks that anyone interested in participating in the update of the current Parks & Recreation Plan complete the attached survey, contact City Hall, and / or participate in one of the update meetings.

Parks & Recreation Plan Update Key Dates and Meetings:
August 17, 2011 – 7:00 p.m. – Update meeting with Planning Commission
August 23, 2011 – 6:00 p.m. – Update meeting with City Council
September 29, 2011 – 7:00 p.m. – Public Meeting
November 2, 2011 – 7:00 p.m. – Planning Commission public meeting to present and discuss draft plan
November 8, 2011 – 9:00 a.m. – City Council workshop on draft plan
December 7, 2011 – 7:00 p.m. – Planning Commission Public Hearing on Final Draft
February 14, 2012 – 6:00 p.m. – City Council Hearing on Final Draft
February 28, 2012 – 6:00 p.m. – City Council Adoption of Final Parks Plan
March 2012 –submit adopted document for final approval and verification
