New flat fee to start Friday at Leavenworth brush site
A trip to the Leavenworth drop-off brush site will cost users a flat fee of $20 beginning on Friday, May 1, 2020.
Fees are typically based on cubic yards at the site, which serves only those people living in the Apple Maggot Quarantine Area of Chelan County. However, a flat fee system was put in place in response to COVID-19 precautions.
Chelan County commissioners in March 2020 passed an Emergency Declaration (Resolution 2020-32) in response to the public health threat caused by COVID-19. The resolution directs all county officials and agencies to do everything possible to mitigate the effects and transmission of COVID-19, including adjusting services in response to establishing protections for employees and the public.
At the brush site, only cash or checks are taken and no change is available. The flat fee system will allow the site’s attendant to better practice social distancing and implement other safeguards when working with the public.
The brush site, located at the intersection of Icicle and East Leavenworth roads, is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays. Visitors are reminded that the site is for those people who live outside the Leavenworth city limits.
