Mudslide clean up on US 2 east of Leavenworth will cause delays Thursday
Leavenworth – Clean up work on a mudslide that occurred east of Leavenworth will require road closures of US 2 on Thursday.
Monday’s mudslide, located near milepost 102, caused mud and debris to overtop the guardrail and spill out into the road. The material on the road was removed Monday and a barrier was put in place to hold back the rest of the debris. A maintenance crew for the Washington State Department of Transportation will work Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to clear the slide materials.
This work will require the closure of the roadway for twenty minutes at a time. Travelers between Leavenworth and Wenatchee should expect delays and longer than normal travel times during working hours.
Updates will be shared on the travel alert page, and on Twitter @WSDOT_East.
