Leavenworth Christmas Lighting Festival
Drivers traveling on US 2 to Leavenworth for week #3 of the annual Christmas Lighting Festival can expect fresh snow and extra traffic as Stevens Pass and Mission Ridge Ski Areas opened.
These are the travel time graphs from last year for Saturday and Sunday to help you plan:
- Friday – Little to no traffic delays coming or going.
- Saturday – 50 to 75 minute delays between Noon and 8 p.m. getting into town from the east and 35-minute delays from 2 to 3, then much shorter delays till 9 p.m. getting out of town.
- Sunday – there were 10 to 20-minute delays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. getting into town and some slow traffic from 4 to 10 p.m. leaving Leavenworth.

Unsettled weather is expected for this weekend, with a pair of wet and warm systems on Friday and again on Sunday. There will be a dry period Saturday in between systems. The weather system on Sunday is expected to produce a significant accumulation of snow in the mountains with a mix of rain and snow in the Leavenworth area.
Friday
Leavenworth: Max temperature: 36 degrees. Sky/weather: Cloudy with a 35% chance of rain and a rain/snow mix. Snow accumulation: Little.
Stevens Pass: Sky/weather: Cloudy with a 60% chance of snow. Snow accumulation: Up to an inch.
Blewett Pass: Sky/weather: Cloudy with a 25% chance of snow. Snow accumulation: Up to a quarter inch.
Friday evening
Leavenworth: Min temperature: 32 degrees. Sky/weather: Cloudy with a 60% chance of rain or snow. Snow accumulation: Up to 1 inch of wet snow.
Stevens Pass: Sky/weather: Cloudy with a 90% chance of snow. Snow accumulation: 2 to 4 inches.
Blewett Pass: Sky/weather: Cloudy with 60% chance of snow. Snow accumulation: 1 to 3″.
Saturday
Leavenworth: Max temperature: Around 41 degrees. Sky/weather: Mostly cloudy. A 20% chance of rain or snow in the morning. Snow accumulation: None.
Stevens Pass: Sky/weather: Cloudy with a 50% chance of snow, mainly in the morning. Snow accumulation: Around 1/2 inch.
Blewett Pass: Sky/weather: Cloudy with a 30% chance of light snow in the morning. Snow accumulation: Less than 1/2 inch.
Saturday evening
Leavenworth: Min temperature: Low 32. Sky/weather: Mostly cloudy with a 70% chance of rain or snow, mainly after 10 p.m. Snow accumulation: Up to an inch.
Stevens Pass: Sky/weather: Cloudy with an 80% chance of snow after 10 p.m. Snow accumulation: 1 to 3 inches.

Leavenworth: Max temperature: 40 degrees. Sky/weather: Cloudy, an 80% chance of snow in the a.m. then a rain/snow mix in the p.m. Snow accumulation:1 to 2″ before it changes to rain.
Stevens Pass: Sky/weather: Cloudy with a 90% chance of snow. Snow accumulation: 3 to 6″.
Blewett Pass: Sky/weather: Cloudy with 90% chance of snow. Snow accumulation: 2 to 4″.
