The City of Leavenworth is pleased to announce that water main-related work is nearly complete. As we move into the final phases of construction, please take note of upcoming road closures and temporary changes to waste collection services.
🚧 Upcoming Road Closures
On Monday, August 3, Poplar Street and Stafford Street will be closed to all through traffic for paving operations. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes and follow all posted detour signs.
🗑️ Important Garbage Collection Instructions
Because Monday is a regularly scheduled collection day, special accommodations have been made for residents on Poplar and Stafford Streets:
- No Truck Access: Waste Management vehicles will be unable to travel down Poplar or Stafford Streets due to paving equipment.
- Drop-off Locations: Residents are requested to place their garbage cans at the end of the street outside the active construction zone.
- Designated Staging Areas: The contractor will set up coned-off areas at the end of the roads so Waste Management crews can easily identify and empty the cans.
What’s Next?
Following work on Poplar and Stafford, additional paving and touch-up work will begin on West Center Street and Cedar Street. The entire Water Main Connection project remains on schedule to wrap up by the end of the month.
