Leavenworth is not only a picturesque town—it is a vibrant, interconnected community shaped by the backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences of those who call it home. Being committed to upholding the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all our actions is essential to being part of a thriving community and a just society.
While some may try to politicize these values, their true purpose is undeniable; they are the foundation of strong, united communities where everyone has opportunity. Diversity celebrates our differences in age, income, ethnicity, race, and religion, and strengthens us through the exchange of new ideas and perspectives. Equity ensures that fairness is not just an aspiration, but a reality, where every individual, regardless of their starting point, has access to opportunity and justice. Inclusion means no one is left out; every person deserves to feel valued, welcomed, and heard.
These values are fundamental principles of our humanity, and upholding them is a continuous commitment to building a stronger, more compassionate community.
