Chelan County Solid Waste Update: April 14, 2020
We’ve made several changes to our solid waste programs during the COVID-19 outbreak. Thank you to everyone who has weathered these temporary changes with us. We look forward to the time in the near future when we can return to our normal hours. We do not have a date established for that time, but we will let you know as soon as we do.
Dryden and Chelan Transfer Stations:
The transfer stations continue to be open to the general public on Fridays and Saturdays only. However, we are regularly seeing customers with large loads of furniture and other spring-cleaning projects. In fact, the staff at the DTS tells us about half of its customers this past weekend did not have general household waste. They were seeing one new car every 90 seconds.
We ask that you keep these Fridays and Saturdays to general household waste only. With a smaller staff and these larger loads, the lines are harder to process. When we are back up to full staff, we will be able to take these larger loads.
At the Dryden Transfer Station, we have also added a credit service. We prefer you use this service over cash to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Transfer station hours are posted online:

Leavenworth Brush Drop-Off Site:
The Leavenworth brush site on East Leavenworth Road will be open to those people living in the Apple Maggot Quarantine Area of Chelan County on:
Friday, April 17, 2020 from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
See the Apple Maggot Quarantine boundary map here.

We want to stress that this brush site is for those people who live in the quarantine area. We are opening it one day to help residents remove their brush and reduce their potential for fire later this summer.
Brush Drop-Off Sites:
For those people who live outside the quarantine area, we encourage you to use the Stemilt Organic Recycling Center, 1465 S. Wenatchee Ave. Details, including hours and cost, are on the facility’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SORCWenatchee/
The Stemilt facility is open six days a week, and we have been checking in with them. The facility can be reached at 669-8228.
The brush sites at the Dryden and Chelan transfer stations remain closed.
If you have any questions, email is the best way to reach me at this time.
