Look out! New speed reductions on Chumstick Hwy.
If you find yourself on Chumstick Highway near the city of Leavenworth, be mindful of the speed limits! County commissioners last week approved the lowering of the speed limit close to the city limits. The decision was made because of anticipated increased traffic at Chumstick Highway’s intersection with North Road, where a new apartment complex is being built. A future roundabout is planned for the intersection; construction is expected in 2028. The 25 mph zone of Chumstick Highway (just outside of Leavenworth) has been extended to milepost 0.63, or just past the Reindeer Farm. From there until milepost 0.76,the speed limit is 35 mph. After milepost 0.76, the speed limit is 50 mph, which is unchanged. Confused? We have a partial map of the new 25 mph zone. New signage is also up, alerting drivers to the speed limits.
