Open City Council Seat: Applications Being Accepted
The City will begin the process of filling the City Council position held by resigning Council Member Gretchen Wearne by submitting an application packet which will include the following items:
- Letter of interest outlining relevant experience and qualifications
- City Council Vacancy Application and Questionnaire
Under Washington law, the City Council has 90 days to appoint a city resident to fill the vacancy. Residents interested in serving in the position are encouraged to submit an application packet to City Administrator Joel Walinski at Leavenworth City Hall by 5:00 PM on December 29, 2017. The City Council will choose the date for interviews and selection at the January 9, 2018 City Council meeting.
Position No. 1 is the available City Council seat with a term ending in December, 2019. The salary for this position is $500 per month.
Under Washington law qualified applicants must be a registered voter, must reside within the City, and must have lived within the City limits for at least one year.
