CITY OF LEAVENWORTH

POSITION TITLE: PERMIT TECHNICIAN

REPORTS TO: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

DEPARTMENT: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None

FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, non-exempt, union position

SALARY RANGE: $5,073 – $5,713 per month

BENEFITS: Excellent monthly benefits including 100% employer paid medical/dental/vision plan premium, $80 employer HRA contribution, 1 day each of vacation and sick leave per month, 11.5 holidays plus 2 floating holidays per year, DRS retirement plan, and comp time/overtime accrual.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The City of Leavenworth is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, computer savvy individual for a full-time position as Permit Technician for Community Development Department. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellent organizational skills through filing or similar job activities and have good communication (written and verbal) skills. This position performs a variety of technical and administrative tasks to expedite the processing and issuance of complex and routine permits for multiple departments. Incumbents accept, review, route, and issue permit applications for routine projects as well as large commercial projects. Incumbents utilize the permit tracking database, review applications for accuracy and completeness, determine permit fees, route plans for approval, and monitor and coordinate the processing and issuing of permits. Duties include responding to inquiries about the permit application process, applicable codes, and inspection requirements.
