POSITION TITLE: Mechanic
REPORTS TO: Public Works Field Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Public Works
DIVISION: Utilities
FLSA STATUS: Full-time, non-exempt
SALARY RANGE: $5,727 – $7,040 per month
BENEFITS: The City of Leavenworth offers excellent benefits including a 100% employer-paid, family medical/dental/vision plan premium; $255 employer HRA contribution per month; 1 day each of vacation
and sick leave per month; 11.5 holidays plus 2 floating holidays per year; DRS retirement plan; and overtime/comp time accrual.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The City of Leavenworth, an equal opportunity employer, is now accepting applications for a full-time, union-covered Mechanic position. The salary range for this position is between $5,727 – $7,040 per month, and the starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
The Mechanic has day-to-day responsibility to diagnose, repair, and maintain all fleet and equipment components, including gasoline and diesel engines, electric motors, and specialized maintenance equipment in the mechanic shop and the field as necessary. Repairs vary and include major repairs to engines, transmission, brakes, hydraulic, and other key systems. The Mechanic must stay up to date with Department of Transportation regulations and any relevant Federal, State, and local laws. Under the direction of a supervisor, this position may serve as a lead on specific job tasks.
The following pre-employment screenings are required for this position drug/alcohol screening, background check, and a physical evaluation. This position requires a valid Washington State driver’s license on the date of hire; a valid Washington State Class B Commercial Driver’s license (CDL); and a driving record free of significant moving violations. Please note that this position requires a CDL, and individuals will be subject to applicable federal regulations, including random drug testing.
